On Mutability Series In-Progress
On Mutability is based on genetic mutations - changes that occur in our DNA sequence, either due to mistakes when the DNA is copied or throughout a person's lifetime. This body of work is focused on the impact of genetic inheritance and fertility, questioning ideas around bringing life to the world, balancing internal and external factors through Papier-mâché eggs, made of empty egg cartons. My work is influenced by classical references, drawing parallels with our inherited cultural identity around ideas of the perfect body in contrast with illness. These series represent the idea of carrying the weight of the world on one's shoulders.
